Chicago’s Horror Theatre Revives Experimental Play about Childhood Violence. Originally presented by legendary company, The Hypocrites, Sean Graney’s play is back in Chicago! October 19th, 2025 CHICAGO, IL This November, go back to grade school with Bump in the Night Theatre’s latest production, The 4th Graders Present an Unnamed Love Suicide by Sean Graney. Opening November 6th at Facility Theatre, this surprising play is equal parts hysterical and horrifying. Fourth grader Johnny shoots himself, leaving behind a play as a suicide note that the kids in his class are forced to perform as a memorial. As friends and bullies assume the roles of Johnny and his classmates, a heartbreaking, darkly curious story emerges, offering a glimpse into the motivation behind Johnny's actions. In Sean Graney’s The 4th Graders Present An Unnamed Love-Suicide, the tragedy of Johnny’s death and his poetically troubling wishes for revenge make this provocative new play a poignant perspective on growing up, peer pressure, and self-worth.
